GRINTER TREES

This page contains information gathered, from a variety of sources, on Grinters prior to the marriage of Joseph Grinter and Elizabeth Style in 1731. Also, later information which has not been linked into known families.

Joseph and Elizabeth are the starting point for many of us since their marriage is, at present the earliest event supported by official documentation which can be traced down through subsequent generations. There is considerable speculation about the lineage prior to 1700, but the loss of certain parish records around that period has thus far prevented the construction of a lineage which withstands challenging. This is therefore a page on which we can share theories....

First there is a list of Grinter related events gathered from the IGI, Campbells, Parish Records, wills etc.

Following this will be the 'what if' area where we will construct plausible links of the list we have gathered.

Early in 2003 Dennis Hollyman completed his work "A Search For The Lost Grinter Generations In The 17th C. Parish Of Muchelney, Somerset, England" and this has now been included on this web site in the Ancestry of Joseph Grinter section.

John GRENTER who married Agnes SMYTHE in 1573 is possibly the son of John GRINTER who married Mary in 1550.
GRINTER/GRENTER seems to have been quite interchangeable in the records.
