Grinter Family Tree

The purpose of this web site is to share and gather information about the Grinter family of Muchelney, Somerset (England). In the course of the three hundred or so years which this information covers, the families have spread to the opposite ends of the world and we look forward to gathering them back together again - at least within these pages.
In general the on-line web site has a cut-off date of 100 years to comply with UK legislation.

As of February 2007 I am starting to amend and update this project. I have begun by replying to e-mails received since Jackie died.

Each page generally shows one family - parents and children. Where a family has been further researched, the name will appear in blue. Click on these names to link to further information. If you are not sure where to start look at the 'list of names'.
For best viewing switch off the 'history' side panel and view at 800 x 600 resolution, or greater, on 15" and 17" monitors.
If you are viewing at 640 x 480 resolution some pages will have to be scrolled horizontally to see all the information.

A huge amount of research had already been carried out by James Thomas Grinter, tracing the Australian branches of the Grinters. Copies of his book "Charles Grinter of Somerset" are in The Somerset Record Office, Somerset Library and Somerset and Dorset Family History Library.
Dennis Hollyman has written much on the emigration of Grinters both to America and Australia. He is also a frequent contributor to the Somerset and Dorset Family Tree Magazine.
